About this service
Obstetric ultrasound at every stage of pregnancy, early dating from six weeks, first-trimester nuchal-translucency (NT) at 12–13 weeks, and detailed second-trimester morphology around 20 weeks. Every scan is reviewed and reported by a sub-specialised radiologist.
What to expect
A sonographer performs the scan, usually transabdominally with water-based gel; an early-pregnancy scan may use a transvaginal probe for a clearer view. Most appointments take 30–45 minutes. We share images and reassuring observations with you in the room.
Early-pregnancy scans (up to 12 weeks): attend with a comfortably full bladder, empty one hour before, then drink one litre of water. From the second trimester onwards no preparation is needed. Bring your referral and any prior imaging.
Results and reports
A sub-specialised radiologist will read your scan and send a comprehensive report directly to your referring GP or specialist the next business day. Your referrer will discuss the results with you at your follow-up appointment.
Bulk billing
Most pregnancy imaging examinations are bulk-billed for eligible patients. Our team will confirm any out-of-pocket costs when you book.
